About this route
The Vrbanova špica via ferrata follows the Lojze Rekar route along a wild, rarely visited ridge in the Julian Alps, graded B/C and stretching over 1,600 m. Twice the line peels away deep into the eastern faces, opening dramatic views into the void below, and around 150 minutes of climbing follow a long approach of some three and a half hours. Not every exposed spot is secured and the waymarking can be unclear in places, so this is a serious undertaking for very experienced mountain travellers only. Avoid it entirely in snow or wet conditions. It combines well with ascents of Cmir, Rjavina or Triglav.
