About this route
San Torcuato is a short but genuinely intense via ferrata above Ezcaray in La Rioja, equipped in late 2025 and offering three lines of increasing difficulty (roughly K3 to K4+). The wall is reached in about ten minutes from the autocaravanas parking, and although the equipped section is modest in length you gain height fast, with overhanging passages, a stretch protected only by cable that must be climbed, and an exposed traverse. Being new, the rock can be loose, so a helmet and attention to rockfall are essential. The escape path between variants is delicate and hard to follow. It rewards experienced ferratists looking for a concentrated, physical workout rather than a long day out.
