About this route

The Rosskopf klettersteig is an easy A/B ridge variant on the Katergebirge traverse near Bad Ischl, with only a short secured passage that lives more from the view than from the climbing. The wired section can be bypassed by the walking path lower down if needed, and at roughly 100 m it takes about a quarter of an hour. The approach from the Katrin cable car or from Kaltenbach runs around an hour and a half, and the route can stand alone or continue toward the Nussensee. Its low difficulty makes it friendly to less experienced climbers and families, though surefootedness on the exposed limestone ridge is still useful. A pleasant ridge outing for those after relaxed secured climbing with views.

Highlights

  • Airy summit ridge
