About this route
Mrzla gora - Pot po zahodnem grebenu is more of a secured mountaineering line than a true via ferrata, with only a handful of protective elements along the exposed western ridge. Graded B/C and stretching around 1200 m, it includes passages of grade I-II climbing on rock that is far from solid, which places it among the most demanding marked ascents in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. With a long approach through Okrešelj past the Rinka waterfall, it makes a full and committing alpine day where a helmet and sure footing are essential. A rewarding round trip descends toward Matkov kot, where the famous Matkov Škaf can be seen along the way.
