About this route

The K6 line of the Via Ferrata de la Raja is the toughest itinerary on the granite tower of La Muela, and it is reserved strictly for very strong, experienced climbers. It splits off to the left just before a short bridge and culminates in a horizontal roof where the footholds simply run out and everything depends on the arms. The climbing covers about 180 metres and is usually dispatched in half an hour, with a five-minute approach and a quick descent. Small, polished metal staples and granite that turns greasy after rain push the real difficulty well above the grade.

Highlights

  • Footless horizontal roof crux
  • Solid stainless staples and cables
  • Extreme upper-body test
