About this route
Koprivnički smjer is a recently reconstructed and well-protected via ferrata below Veliki Kalnik whose difficulty comes as a surprise. At first glance it looks like an easy line, but it actually matches the more demanding C/D grade, with the hardest section waiting right at the start and rungs alternating with bare rock thereafter. Access leads through the forest along the Planinska staza 17d, with the entry point almost at the top. From the summit there are views over the surroundings, and you can descend via a short B-grade section or along the ridge to the ruins of Veliki Kalnik castle. At a short length of around 60 metres it is a small but honest challenge for stronger climbers, with a climbing area nearby as a further draw.
