About this route
Klettersteig Lehner Wasserfall is a celebrated route in the Ötztal that threads its way right alongside the Lehner Waterfall, reaching about 2,097 m. The main line is graded C over roughly 170 metres and 75 minutes of climbing, with around 330 m of vertical gain on steel cable and abundant iron rungs and pegs. In the upper section it divides: an exposed D/E variant added in 2014 climbs directly beside the falling water for experienced climbers, while an easier B bypass keeps the route family-friendly, and all paths converge at a dramatic suspension bridge. The 20-minute approach passes fourteen Way-of-the-Cross stations from the Ötztaler Heimatmuseum, and the spray-laden setting makes it one of Tirol's most striking outings.
