About this route
The Klettersteig Gerlosstein climbs the north face of the Gerlossteinwand near Mayrhofen, a short but highly regarded line graded D that is no place for newcomers. At roughly 240 m of climbing it packs in tough D-grade passages right at the start and again near the finish, with airy, exposed steps along the way to the striking summit. The easiest approach takes the Gerlossteinbahn cable car up to the ski hut, from where the wall sits just slightly to the left; on foot it is around two hours. With a 45-minute walk-off back to the hut, the whole outing makes a satisfying half-day for confident, experienced via ferratists.
