About this route
Josef Klettersteig is a short, often overlooked via ferrata graded C on the Ewige Wand below Bad Goisern, set on a very exposed, south-facing wall negotiated with the help of foot pegs. After a brief slightly overhanging start it eases onto a ledge and a ramp no harder than B, so a single short C passage defines the grade. It is hardly worth the trip on its own, but it makes an excellent warm-up before the Höhenweg above it, with which it combines well via the connecting tunnels. The start is reached in about 25 minutes from the Rathlucken Hütte on the marked hiking trail toward the Ewige Wand, and complete via-ferrata gear and a helmet are needed. A head for heights and sure footing are essential.
