About this route
Hanzova pot is a full-day ascent of Prisojnik (2,547 m) with a reputation as one of the hardest and longest mountain via ferratas in Slovenia. Graded C and stretching over 1,100 metres, it demands nearly six hours of climbing alone, plus a 45-minute approach from the Vršič Pass and a long, exhausting descent. The terrain is steep, exposed and unrelenting, with iron rungs and cables anchored across the rock where every step calls for care. Renovated in 2023-2024 with new cable, rungs and pitons, the route is once again fully passable, though it remains reserved for fit and experienced climbers. It rewards them with wild high-alpine surroundings deep in the Julian Alps.
