About this route

Forcella ferrata Sidon Bassa, also known as Vittorio Barini, is a short cabled gully in the Italian Dolomites, equipped with roughly 150 metres of cable along a 150-metre line. The climbing is mostly easy with a single harder step graded B/C, and the actual ascent takes only about fifteen minutes, which makes it an ideal add-on to a longer day, for instance linked with the neighbouring Cassiopea ferrata. Note that some maps wrongly label the unequipped eastern path, which requires UIAA grade II free climbing, as the via ferrata. The approach is long, around three hours, running either through the demanding Torrente Rovadia valley to the Passo di Suola or along the easier Torrente Dria promenade. It will appeal to fit, capable climbers seeking adventure in remote high-mountain terrain.
