About this route
Tucked into an abandoned limestone quarry behind Tatranská Kotlina, this is the oldest via ferrata in Slovakia, set up by the mountain rescue service back in 2004. The line is short, roughly 50 metres at grade C, and stays almost entirely on natural rock, with only a couple of crampon steps and three rather wobbly rungs to break up the climbing. The quarry doubles as a practice crag with more than thirty bolted routes, several of which can be reached straight off the ferrata. Both the five-minute approach and the descent are quick, making this an easy half-hour outing. It suits climbers who enjoy authentic rock movement and like to combine a ferrata with some sport climbing.
