About this route
The Ferrata de Moiry hangs above the turquoise reservoir of the Lac de Moiry in the Val d'Anniviers, a vertiginous grade C line with an optional, far harder D/E variant. The first part climbs a vertical wall to a spur above the void, while the second opens with a roughly 20-metre overhanging traverse, and the D/E version adds a wire net and a zip line for which you need your own pulley. The approach is short, whether you park at the foot of the dam or higher up, leaving most of the day for the climbing, around an hour and three quarters before a 45-minute descent. Set among glaciers in one of the finest corners of the Valais, it is open from June to October and best left to confident climbers, with falling rock and storms the chief hazards.
