About this route
Ferata Renke 2 ranks among the hardest via ferratas in Slovenia and is reserved strictly for strong, experienced climbers. There are no artificial footholds on this short 100-metre line, just the cable, so real upper-body strength is essential on its steep, exposed rock above the Sava. Getting there is part of the challenge: the only river crossing is a pedestrian suspension bridge in very poor condition, officially closed, after which green triangles guide you along the railway to the start. Built in 2022 alongside the older, easier Renke 1, the route may close during the peregrine falcon's nesting season, and snakes have been spotted on the approach and at the top.
