About this route
Ferata Mučevo threads its way through the Mučevo gorge near the hamlet of Žerjav and is reserved firmly for experienced climbers. The grade-E line opens with a demanding twelve-metre vertical wall, then keeps the pressure on with further sheer sections, overhangs and a trio of rope bridges; the hardest spots can be skirted on an easier yet still far from trivial alternative. One smooth vertical slab is the real catch, as it has to be climbed directly with no bypass and turns treacherous when wet. The routing is clever and genuinely spectacular, but expect your boots to get caked in mud on the transfers between climbing pitches in damp conditions, which does nothing to make the ascent easier. Allow around 90 minutes for the roughly 350 metres of cable.
