About this route
Fallbach Klettersteig is a steep, exposed sport via ferrata that climbs the granite wall right beside the Fallbach, said to be Carinthia's highest free-falling waterfall, which stays in view throughout the ascent. The route splits into two parts: a lower section around grade D and an upper section reaching E, with the option to bail out after the first part. Across roughly 240 metres of cabled terrain it demands real upper-body strength on its traverses and overhanging moves, and is best tackled in two hours by fit, experienced climbers. Plan for waterfall spray on a northwest wind and a short, well-signed approach of about 15 minutes from the Wasserwelten parking near Brandstatt. A small maintenance fee is charged at the entrance.
