About this route
Dinaridi is the longest, hardest and highest via ferrata in Croatia, climbing to the country's loftiest peak, Dinara (also called Sinjal), at 1,831 metres. Stretching 1,700 metres with 730 metres of ascent, it links sections graded from B up to D and demands solid fitness and arm strength; a bivouac on the route allows an overnight if needed. The line delivers everything a first-class ferrata should, from a sharp, airy ridge and steep walls to bridges, ledges and imposing towers with unforgettable views, and it is well built from a safety standpoint, with four marked escape points. The approach goes by car from the Knin–Sinj road to the Bili Cvitak shelter and on along a faintly marked path to the start, with the full ascent taking around three hours. This is a summit experience for fit, experienced via ferrata climbers, and the surroundings reward a visit to the Dragon's Eye spring and Croatia's oldest church.
