About this route
Coulour del Porco is a high-alpine via ferrata graded B that climbs to a saddle of the same name on the Italian-French frontier ridge. Technically it asks little, but the setting is serious and committing: from the col you can push on toward nearby three-thousanders such as Punta Venezia or Punta Udine, or drop down the French side and return by the tunnel below Colle delle Traversete. The route runs roughly 250 m with about 40 m of gain and takes around 40 minutes of climbing, but the long two-hour approach makes for a full mountain day. In spring and early summer the southern circuit past the lakes is the safer choice, since the northern variant toward the Giacoletti hut holds snow well into the season and a steep snowfield can linger below the start.
