About this route
Callejomadero, built in 2021 near Ramales de la Victoria, is a singular and very demanding via ferrata graded D/E (K4+/K5) that runs entirely inside a vertical limestone pit, a torca. The adventure begins not with a climb but with an airy 40-metre abseil into the cavity, so a descender and rappel skills are essential alongside the usual helmet, harness and lanyard set. Once inside there is no escape route other than the ferrata itself and no mobile coverage, which makes going solo inadvisable; expect overhanging passages, muddy rock and a striking Tibetan bridge of roughly 25 to 35 metres. With around 300 metres of climbing, a 25-minute approach and a total outing near two and a half hours, it is a top-tier objective for skilled, well-prepared climbers seeking something out of the ordinary.
