About this route
Baumhaus Steig is a tiny practice via ferrata graded B, set on a rock block hidden in the forest on the way to the Zwerchwand near Bad Goisern. The climbing is short, with iron rungs leading up the rock before a brief traverse and a short descent on the far side, making it an ideal first taste for beginners and families. On its own it is hardly worth the trip, but it pairs nicely with a hike or with the neighbouring Zwerchwand via ferratas Lindwurm and Frosch. The walk-in from the car park near the Berggasthof Predigstuhl takes about an hour. Note the spring climbing restriction for nesting peregrine falcons.
