About this route

Agulles Rodones is an extremely demanding via ferrata graded E near Solius on the Costa Brava, and it is currently officially closed (Prohibido el paso). One of the longest and hardest lines in Catalonia, it links roughly eleven needles across two distinct sections and, if done in full, can take six to eight hours. The route demands genuine endurance and solid rappelling technique, since progress depends on building at least eleven abseils with a 40 m rope, and several installations are reportedly precarious or collapsed. Access is barred year-round because no agreement exists between the town council and the landowners, with an additional prohibition during the bird nesting season. This is strictly a project for elite, experienced ferratists, and the current status should always be checked before any planning.

Highlights

  • Around eleven exposed needles
  • Eleven rappels to link the sections
  • Officially closed access
