About this route
The Adler Klettersteig is a long, varied ridge route in the Mieminger Kette, climbing to the Karkopf at 2,469 metres on superb, grippy Wetterstein limestone. Graded D, it serves up difficult, airy climbing, smooth slabs and pillars fitted with clamps and holes, broken by easier scenic ridge passages, with the total climb taking around 2.5 to 3 hours. The approach runs about 95 minutes from the parking below the Strassberghaus above Telfs. Highly exposed traverses give it a genuinely alpine feel and a steep normal-route descent, so it is not for children or beginners. Experienced, fit and sure-footed climbers are rewarded with constant rock contact and wide views over the Wetterstein and Mieminger ranges.
